Event description: Slovenia is known as the country of Classical karst, the idea, and concept of karst developed here, and the Slovenian karst played an important role in the development of speleology, karstology, and speleobiology. The term karst (toponym) in the German form of the word (der Karst) has become an international scientific term. On the occasion of the UIS International Year of Caves and Karst, a ceremony will be held in the ZRC Atrium to present the scientific work of ZRC SAZU in this field.
