GOV4PeaCE

Description

GOV4PEACE

GOV4PeaCE aims to overcome the complex territorial and sectoral barriers in the management of the legacy of the First World War. An improved management model will facilitate the use of heritage for the integrated development of peripheral Central European areas where the main front lines of the war took place.

GOV4PeaCE aims to establish sustainable structures and tools to promote the valorisation of WWI heritage in and across peripheral and border areas.

In order to achieve the described goals, the project will be implemented in three work groups:

  • An innovative strategic model for the multidimensional and multiterritorial management of the legacy of the First World War,
  • The development of pilot projects for the management of the heritage of the First World War in functional areas with different levels of maturity of heritage management,
  • Transnational governance and a digital platform for the sustainable use of World War I heritage in functional areas.

Challenges

  • The fragmented management of the legacy of the First World War and the lack of structures that would enable multi-territorial and multi-sectoral cooperation,
  • Limited capacities to use the potential of the legacy of the First World War through territorial integration,
  • Using digitization for multi-dimensional collaboration and promoting a holistic approach to the management of WW1 heritage,
  • Sustainable development of the world-recognized heritage of the war to escalate the local potential, its value, impact and visibility, to the transnational level.

Planned results

  • A strategy for the introduction of an innovative multidimensional governance model for the social and economic activation of the legacy of the First World War in and between transnational functional areas,
  • Pilot projects of the heritage management model implemented in three functional areas of different maturity levels,
  • 3 heritage management solutions for 3 functional areas with different levels of maturity and a digital platform for sustainable heritage management for all areas.
  • Transnational Governance Model Action Plan for the Social and Economic Activation of the Legacy of the First World War,
  • Connecting 30 organizations in cooperation across borders within the framework of GOV4PeaCE.
