PROJECT ARRS J7-1817: 5000 YEARS OF GRAZING AND MINING ACTIVITIES IN THE JULIAN ALPS (SLOVENIA) (2019-2022)
Archaeological research
Archaeological field surveys, documentation of surface remains, and small-scale excavations are planned for the mountain grazing areas. Archaeological pits (4 × 4 m) will be excavated at Pod Kopico (Late Bronze Age), Vodene rupe 1 (Roman Age), Vodene rupe 2 and Krstenica (Late Antiquity and Early Middle Ages) study sites. In the final phase of the project, a database of archaeological sites in high altitude areas will be used to analyse study sites in the microregion and the entire Julian Alps.
